Elevation Worship and Maverick City Music's "Talking to Jesus," featuring Brandon Lake, soars in atop Billboard's airplay-, sales- and streaming-based Hot Gospel Songs chart and at No. 9 on Hot Christian Songs (both dated April 24).
It marks the second time this month that a collaboration from the two lead acts starts in the Hot Gospel Songs penthouse and inside the Hot Christian Songs top 10; on the April 10-dated rankings, their "Jireh," featuring Chandler Moore and Naomi Raine (both members of Maverick City Music), debuted at Nos. 1 and 10 on the respective charts. "Jireh" ranks at No. 2 on the latest Hot Gospel Songs list, ousted after two weeks on top by the acts' new No. 1.
Both songs preview Elevation Worship and Maverick City Music's collaborative album Old Church Basement, due April 30.
Over the last year, the Mav City crew has become like family," Elevation Worship frontman Chris Brown muses. "I feel that this album is not only a reflection of that, but also captures the spirit of our two ministries. We hope Old Church Basement helps people return to the purity of the moments when they first encountered God, and jogs their memories of his faithfulness."
"Talking," released April 9, pulled off its rocket ride to the charts with 2 million U.S streams and 4,000 sold in its first week, ending April 15, according to MRC Data. It also debuts at No. 1 on both Christian Digital Song Sales and Gospel Digital Song Sales and enters atop Gospel Streaming Songs and at No. 7 on Christian Streaming Songs.
