The Archbishop of Lagos, Methodist Church Nigeria, the Most Rev. Dr Isaac Olawuyi, has warned Christian faithful against fake worship of Christ in order to serve God in truth and spirit.
He made this call in his sermon at the conclusion of his three-day Episcopal 2021 visit to the Diocese of Lagos, Methodist Church Nigeria, held at the Wesley Cathedral Olowogbowo Circuit, Lagos.
He lamented the unfortunate and nonchalant attitude of some worshipers in churches and other religious houses. He called for sober reflection among Nigerians. He admonished Christians against the spirit of self-aggrandizement to the detriments of the larger society.
Bishop Olawuyi urged religious faithful to lead by example, and to avoid display of ill-gotten wealth, which distracts from true, sacrificial, devoted service to God and mankind.
The cleric, quoting from the Bible assured Nigerians of a better, secured tomorrow, a vibrant economy, provided “we all renounce sins, toe the path of righteousness, as God is looking for sinless, devoted leaders, who will honour His name and be a blessing to others.”
