Culture as define by Edward Burnett Tylor 'is that complex whole which include knowledge, moral, belief, law, custom, and, any other capabilities and habit that is acquired by man as a society member' while tradition as stated by Edward shil 'is any thing that can be transmitted or handed down from the past to the present'. Taking about civilization and technological advancement this are human activities in creating new development and well organized technology. Cultural heritage is a vital part of our tradition shaping our values and way of life.

The ilaje people a subgroup of the Yoruba ethnic group boast a rich cultural heritage in terms of occupation like fishing, community values, cultural practices, language, and spirituality amidst the influence of civilization.
Despite modernization and civilization we the ilaje have found a way of preserving our culture and tradition particularly in traditional dressing; we are influence by the itsekiri and Urobo style our men wearing wrapper and buba top and our women wearing blouse and wrapper, festival; we celebrate a range of festival like the umale masquerade malokun (a festival for the sea goddess) regatta and epo costume-dresssing masquerade). As modernization and technological advancement continue to shape into our world we found ways of preserving our tradition examples are Documentation initiatives and cultural resilience.

From one perspective, civilization has brought myraid benefits to we the ilaje people which include economic opportunities, improved access to education, health care advancement. However modernization still poses a threat, as the influence of western values in our daily life is a phenomenon that reflect both the benefit and challenges of globalization and cultural exchange. Despite this modernization still introduce a new culture and intergeneration learning.

Our culture in the face of civilization and technological advancement is like a testament, striking balance between preserving tradition and embracing progress, we can preserve our tradition by documenting our riddles, stories, and myth this can be done through multimedia storyteller, digital archives, and community-led Documentation initiatives. Also traditional festival can help preserve our culture and promote pride, creating awareness among community members and outsiders.

In conclusion while civilization and technological advancement has it positive impact like improving access to information and accessing soil health with the use of smart agriculture, it also has it negative impact like causing erosion to tradition and loss of culture while considering the negative impact of civilization we should also consider the preserving effort and positive impact. Our story will serve as an inspiration to other community facing similar challenges, highlighting the importance of preserving tradition and culture
