OUR CULTURE AND TRADITION IN THE FACE OF CIVILIZATION AND TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCEMENT

As essential as our cultures and tradition is, this very dire and melancholic to hearing that our culture and tradition is neglected and seen as something trivial due to civilization and technological advancement. Nowadays. People have showed a gigantic apathy towards our culture and tradition, especially our youths. Our Culture and tradition is no more Valuable. The culture and tradition which is our ways of life and our belief has utterly changed.

In the aid days, girls would kneel down while greeting an elderly one. Boy would bow while greeting an elderly one. But nowadays, some girls and boys don't even know how to great at all, talk less of bowing or kneeling down for elders. Respect is now taboo for our youths, youngers are now rude to elders.

Moreso, civilization has changed and destroyed our dressing. Our youths are wearing clothes that are not covering their body. Girls are wearing clothes that are not covering their breasts, laps, and their stomach. They are showing out their secret parts that supposed to be covered and not to be seen. Boys are wearing trousers that lunatics are not wearing. They are wearing rag trousers and clothes. Some married women are not dressing like married Women again. Some don't have wrapper, and some are equally showing out their secret parts as spinsters are doing. Women dressing such as IRO and BUBA are no longer used by our women. Women have abandoned their dressing. Likewise, men have neglected their dressing. Both men and women have been emulating foreign dressings.

Moreover, in the old days, our tradition was seen as something that is very vital and sacred. Nowadays, our tradition is secularized; worshiping of gods in our land is no more. Those gods our ancestors believed in and were worshipping such as Ogun, Ayelala, etc, are not being worshipped nowadays due to civilization and technological advancements. In addition to this, sacrifices are not sacredly taken by the people again.

Civilization has changed many things to the extent that ladies are just leaving their parent's house, going to husband's house without their parent's awareness. Bride prices must be paid in the olden days before the lady can leave her parent's house to her husband's house. A boy that wants to marry her would inform his family and they will follow him to the lady's house to see her family, pay bride price before the lady can leave her parent's house. Now, it has changed. A lady can leave her parent's house anytime she wishes.

To finalize this, our culture and traditions has faced a great menace, and everything has changed. Monarchs are not ruling according to culture and traditions of the land; our culture and traditions has now gone far from the people.
