Former Governor of Lagos State, Ahmed Bola Tinubu has pointed out his reason why freedom fighters like Sunday Igboho and Mazi Kanu cannot achieve their secession agenda and believes Nigeria will continue as one.
According to the highly respected Afenifere Leader, Tinubu, Nigeria cannot afford another Civil war, a likely product of secession.
This announcement was made known at a special Ramadan prayer section on Sunday, where he remarked that Nigeria has not recovered from the previous secession/Biafra war, therefore cannot risk another, with a resulting civil war.
He said: "God will not allow us to see war. we are saying Nigeria should separate, Nigerians should remember what war has done in Sudan and Iraq.
"War does not stop on time(it takes years). And we are yet to recover from the Biafran war. We are better together."
Tinubu further highlighted why the breakup is not an option, and why no Elderly Nigerians will accept a breakup, according to him, no one who has experienced the Biafran war will want a repeat of the experience.
He said: "Whoever has seen war in the past will never pray for such. Nigeria will not break up; it’s not acceptable to us. What we pray for is prosperity and more wealth for Nigeria."
This revelation by Bola Tinubu will serve as an eye-opener for Nigerians who bought into the agenda and a big disappointment for the Likes of Sunday Igboho and Kanu who have in recent times intensified their effort to push for a breakup.
You will also recall that that there was a rally in Ogun state on Saturday by some Yoruba Agitators whose desire is to create awareness of their intention to secede and form a new Oduduwa nation.
Tinubu's Latest speech is becoming an eye-opener for all Nigerians because a breakup will not easily be gotten without a fight, therefore it will lead to war. And according to Bola Tinubu, War does not end easily, it may take years to end, the effect will be devastating.
Then in addition there is no guaranty that at the end of the war, the goals of the secession move will be achieved as in the case of the 1967 Biafran war, then come a lengthy period of hardship. This is an experience no right-thinking Nigerians will want to see.
