In the 70s most parents were still traditionally raised and the advent of urbanisation brought its own challenges.Young people saw life different from their parents and like today some felt traditions were a waste of time.
In 1976 this young lady then, ran away from an initiation ceremony and went to live with a boyfriend in "Cook"(KuKu) compound.
The mother enraged by the behaviour decided to punish her sins in a beffiting manner. The girl was smeared with mud and paraded half naked to make a Godiva walk of shame in the streets in broad day light. they made her carry the "good things in life"that might have forced her to run away from home. These included a bottle of beer, cigarrettes, bread and other items found in a bachelor's home.
The Mother took time in jeering and explaining to the public about what she had done and giving it as a warning to other girls who may want to do the same.
