Gliophorus psittacinus, commonly known as the Parrot toadstool or Parrot waxcap.
Gliophorus psittacinus is a small mushroom widely distributed in grasslands in western Europe, the Americas, South Africa and Japan, being found in late summer and autumn. The bell-shaped cap, measuring up to 4 cm (1.6 in) in diameter, is initially green with shades of yellow, orange or purple and later turns to yellowish or even pinkish tinged as the green slime washes off the cap. The stipe, being 2–8 cm (0.8–3.1 in) in length and 3–5 mm in width, is green to greenish yellow.
The Parrot toadstool is generally considered edible, but not worthwhile due to its small size and sliminess. However, if over 20 specimens are ingested in one sitting, it can lead to gastrointestinal disorders.
