All might not have been heard about the rumblings surrounding the tenure of Dr. Victor Koledoye as the secretary of the Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), as a group loyal to the embattled Secretary lambasted the Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Sam Erejuwa, advising him to live above ethnicity and concentrate on governance. In a write-up by the unamed group titled "OSOPADEC DICHOTOMY..THE ACT AND THE CONTENT OF THE MANDATE AREAS." The group wrote "We have read with dismay, the vituperating publication believed was authored by some elements in OSOPADEC trying to off staging the person of the commission secretary and by extension Ese-Odo people with ignominy.
We know this shenanigans is coming from the quarters hitherto known for dichotomous discordance. My appeal to the commission chairman is to live above ethnicity and concentrate on governance and say no to distraction." According to the group, "Contrary to the claims of the assailants, the status of the commission secretary is not by secondment but rather a substantive position with appointment letter and clear expression and descriptions of assignment subject to renewal as the Governor pleases.
" The group then sounded a note of warning that "Ese-Ode people are solidly behind our right in the commission as represented in the person the of secretary. We will resist vehemently any form or forms of intimidation, oppression and victimization." However, sources close to the commission has advised the embattled Secretary and his group to leave Mr. Sam Erejuwa, the Chairman of OSOPADEC out of the matter and not to import ethnic colouration into simple service matter. According to our source, Dr. Koledoye should answer to the issue of truancy in the office being a full-time Law Student at Elizade University, Ilara Mokin; and the issue of his bloating his personal emoluments beyond his grade level.
According to the source "if Dr. Koledoye's engagement in OSOPADEC is by appointment rather than secondment as claimed by the group, it follows to reason therefore that his tenure ended with Hon. Gbenga Edema led board which ended in April 2021 except there is a clear reappointment by the Governor for another term which reappointment has not been announced." Dr. Koledoye has also been fingered behind the impromptu visit of the DG. PPMIU, Engr. Babajide Akeredolu penultimate Thursday over the proposed implementation of the so called PIND recommendations which is targeted at restructuring the OSOPADEC. How the restructuring will benefit the secretary is yet to be determined. We shall continue to keep you posted as more facts emerge on this matter.
