Former Super Eagles Coach, Adegboye Onigbinde, has passed away at the age of 88. His passing, three days after his birthday, was announced by one of his daughters, Mrs. Bolade Adesuyi, who described him as a devoted father, husband, grandfather, and an unequalled football tactician. Born 5th March, 1938, he died 9th March, 2026.
Onigbinde, a High Chief of Modakeke in Osun State, took charge of the Super Eagles twice. His first stint ran from 1981 to 1984, culminating in a second-place finish at the 1984 Africa Cup of Nations, while his second time in charge of the Super Eagles was at the 2002 FIFA World Cup.
Onigbinde would be remembered as one of the greatest tacticians Nigerian Football has ever had.
