Our young women quite frequently aren’t an integral part of the affairs of this great State. The Queen of Ibile Pageant seeks to serve as a medium of unification in Lagos/Nigeria. The intent of this project is to involve the young women of Lagos in the affairs of the State and to empower them through healthy competition on an annual basis. IBILE is a meaningful acronym. It is comprised of the first letter from the names of the five administrative divisions of Lagos State- Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos Island and Epe. This will instill a sense of pride and joy of ownership to residents of each division. Amongst other states, Lagos is renowned for its unique and spirited beauty. It is recognized for fairness in its dealings, solidarity, and co-ordination.
The Queen of Ibile Pageant will allow contestants from across Lagos to participate in a pageant and reality television program that will showcase their knowledge about the State while promoting government progress on infrastructure through the annual project theme. Awards will be given to individuals and government officials who have contributed significantly to the infrastructural developments of Lagos State.
Auditions will be conducted in the five administrative divisions of Lagos to select 57 contestants that will represent all local governments and LCDAs in Lagos State. The final stage of the auditions will cut the competition down from 57 to 20 contestants. The top 20 will be determined by how well they demonstrate their knowledge of Lagos in the interview portion of the competition.
The top 20 contestants will participate in a two week long camp where they undergo a series of challenges.
These will include a talent showcase, workshop, cultural fashion showcase, sporting exhibitions, tourism, exploration and a great deal more. The 20 contestants will be divided into five groups and each group will be assigned a celebrity mentor. The five groups will be named according to the acronym IBILE. From this stage of the competition onward, the results will be determined by the viewers as they vote for their favourites. The essence of these activities is to bolster the contestants’ experience and knowledge. During the camp, the appointed celebrity judges will be on hand to examine the contestants and award them marks based on their performances in each challenge. This process will be aired live for viewers to follow the challenges and vote for their favourites. The number of contestants will then be cut from 20 to 15, with 3 contestants to represent each of the five administrative divisions.
The objectives of this project, though ambitious, are quite practical in achieving improvement in the State as whole while creating opportunities specifically for young women.
• Grooming young women into responsible role models that are responsive to the needs of their various communities
• Creating awareness of issues and mobilizing young women in their communities

The Queen of Ibile Pageant is going to be a useful instrument in curtailing the excesses of ill-focused youthful exuberance while equipping contestants with the tools to achieve their respective dreams. The eventual winner will assume an official post. Because of its uniqueness and mission, this pageant will help promote the creativity and ingenuity of Lagos State on a global level
Unemployment is a key factor that exacerbates societal instability and a significant part of the population is affected by it. For the young ladies of Lagos, participation in a healthy competition like pageantry is a chance to acquire skills and establish connections with individuals from variety industries. At the conclusion of the competition, job opportunities will be made available to them as a result of observations from judges and sponsors.
Building their communities through the ‘Beauty to Serve’ initiative will make the environment a better place for all and encourage more young people, especially women, to participate in the affairs of not only the state, but of the nation.
The winner of The Queen of Ibile Pageant will immediately assume office following the conclusion of the competition and commence with her project in Lagos. Firstly, she will go on an IBILE tour creating awareness of certain women’s issues and infrastructural development projects of the government. This tour will also include carrying out charity work, tackling challenges facing women and publicizing the image of the pageant while furthering its mission.
