Following the security challenges facing Ilaje local government which has claimed many lives, and properties worth millions being destroyed, it has become LAW with full force in ilaje local government to wipe out criminals.

In a Security summit which was attended by the Olugbo of Ugbo land, The Amapetu of Mahin land, Olubo of Obenla, The Odede of Igboegunrin, The Olu of Igbokoda, Primate S.O Ayodele, The Ogeloyinbo of Ayetoro, The Regent of Etikan, Representative of Maporure of Aheri, Prof. Ade Olomola, The Arapanata of Itebu-kunmi, Hon. Goke Jatuase, Chairman of Ilaje Local Government, Hon. Funso Esan, Commissioner for Environment, Chief Olusola Oke San, Hon,. Kolade Akinjo, Member House of Representatives, Members Ondo State House of Assembly representing Ilaje Local Government, Representatives of Youths, Women, Non-Indigenes, security agents (Navy, Police, DSS, Civil Defence, FRSC, Amatekun) and other varied interest groups ordered and enacted with immediate effect that:

Establishment of Ilaje Vigilante Service (IVS) to work in conjunction with other security agencies within the ambit of the law and with clear guidelines for its operation;

Establishment of Ilaje Security Trust Fund (ISTF) to serve as a vehicle for assessing and disbursing funds to the Ilaje Vigilante Service (IVS). However, for sustainability, Ilaje Local Government and OSOPADEC may be responsible for its funding in the future. The membership of the Trust fund must be from private sector to include representatives of Obas, professionals, youths, women etc.

Constituted a committee in consultation with the traditional rulers, backed with appropriate legal framework that will midwife the structures for the proposed IVS as well as sustainable sources of funding of the security outfit;

Confiscate/expose any property belonging to any identified proven armed robber, kidnapper, and ritual killers;

Sanction any landlord/landlady that harbours armed robber, kidnapper, and ritual killer, and demolish such property;

(vi) Eradicate cult groups and bring culprits in Ilaje LGA to justice;

(vii) Eradicate forceful demand/extortion of money from musicians and individuals at functions or work construction/building site;

Arrest or cause to be arrested, any person found with unlicensed arms;

Identifying and engage/discuss with ex-militant (GWAMA) and various youth groups

Encourage the use of Alternative Dispute Resolution to settle dispute; and

Ilaje Vigilante Service to work with security agencies to restore and sustain security in Ilaje Land.
