EDDIE HEARN SUGGEST HEAVYWEIGHT BOXING UNIFICATION BOUT WILL BE ON JULY 24 IF IT HAPPENS AT WEMBLEY.
Eddie Hearn has earmarked July 24 as the date for Anthony Joshua’s heavyweight unification fight with Tyson Fury, should it happen at Wembley Stadium.
However, Joshua’s promoter indicated that the London-based stadium probably won’t be the venue of the eagerly-anticipated bout.
It was announced last month that the British fighters are said to lock horns for the right to call themselves undisputed heavyweight world champion.
However, a number of things have yet to be ironed out in the deal, such as the date and the location of the bout, while Fury’s promoter Frank Warren suggested Hearn had jumped the gun making the announcement in the first place.
Wembley is one of many venues being tipped to host Joshua vs Fury, with Mayor of London Sadiq Khan saying the city is ‘ready’ to do so.
It’s understood that an announcement on the date and location will be made next week, but Matchroom boss Hearn warned there are a number of factors at play which make the fight happening at Wembley unlikely.
