A lady identified as Crystabel was reported to have bled to death after undergoing a BBL (Brazilian Butt Lift) surgery in Lagos, Nigeria.
A friend of the deceased took to Twitter to express her displeasure at circumstances surrounding the death of her friend. According to the friend in question, Crystabel had bled after her surgery and was told by the doctors that it was something normal and would stop.
Apparently, that wasn't the case as she eventually bled to death. The friend also emphasized that no one knew what had happened to her until days after when friends were unsure about her whereabouts and visited the hospital. They then discovered that she had died and the body of the deceased had already been deposited at the mortuary.
The hospital in question issued a press statement via their official Instagram page and refuted some claims made by the deceased's friend while narrating what really happened. They also included in the statement that they would gladly support the request of the deceased family who have requested an autopsy.
Nigerians and a couple of celebrities aired their views on the topic of BBLs and cosmetic surgeries. While some encouraged ladies to desist from it and embrace body positivity, others blamed the hospital for a job not well done.
BBLs have become very popular in recent years all across the globe and according to statistics a certain percentage of women undergo BBL surgery daily and has a mortality rate of 1 in 3000. It has been proven by doctors to be one of the most dangerous surgery as it has a death rate greater than any other cosmetic surgery and poses a lot of health risks for the patient.
