Some apps has many positive and negative effects in today's society as Indian government has banned 59 Chinese mobile applications, including top social media platforms such as; TikTok, Helo and We Chat, to counter the threat posed by these applications to it's 'sovereignty and insecurity'.
The ban came amid escalating tensions along the disputed boarder between the two countries, Both India and China deployed more troops to the Ladakh region in June and satellite images also appear to show that China has built new structures overlooking the Himalayan boarder region.
The Indian government which cited complaints about data on Indian users being transferred abroad without authorizations, said the ban was imposed under Section 69A of the information Technology (Procedure and Safeguards for Blocking of Access of Information by Public) Rules 2009.
Indian Ministry of Information Technology said in a statement;
"The compilation of these data, its mining and profiling by element hostile to national security and defense of India, which untimely impinges upon the sovereignty and integrity of India, is a matter of very deep and immediate concern which requires emergency measures".
Reacting to the ban, TikTok owners said in a statement;
"Building empowered by local management team in the countries where TikTok operates, including India, has been critical to our global success.
"While the Government of India has issued an interim order to block 59 applications, our team of around 2,000 employees in India is committed to working with the government to demonstrate our dedication to user security and our commitment to our country overall.
"We are proud to provide hundreds of millions of users in India and around the world a creative platform for their stories, lifestyle, performances, education and often, a way to make their livelihood".
TikTok is a worldwide application which was founded and owned by the Chinese. It has millions of users in China. Moreover India is one of TikTok's biggest foreign market, with an estimated 120 million users.
The India's diplomatic tensions with China are starting to have a knock-on effect on business and tech, a complete decoupling may be easier said than done. China dominates India's massive internet market, the world second largest, with close to 600 million users both in hardware and software.
Relations between the worlds two most populous nations have been strained following the 20 Indian troops hand-to-hand hand fighting with their Chinese counterpart on the western end of the high-attitude, contested boarder in the mid-June.
However, where it concerns Nigeria as a country, TikTok is gradually getting popular and versatile on daily basis. As the company went further stating that It was built so as to provide its users a creative platform for the their stories, education, lifestyle and performances.
Then in Nigeria it seems the case is same with India because the compilation of those data, people no longer exercise privacy nor enjoy private life as it concerns the people and the nation. it is mining and profiling by element hostile to the Nigerian insecurity and communication.
